ABOUT

ReThink3R aims at organizing interdisciplinary workshops focusing on the 3Rs using Design Thinking methods.

The 3R principle

The 3R principle (Replace, Reduce and Refine) describes interventions for replacing animal experiments by alternative methods, for reducing the numbers of animals and for refining animal experiments in order to reduce animal suffering.

Design Thinking

Design Thinking is an innovation method that helps to find practical and user-centred solutions in an effective team-work setting.

Our Vision

We believe that the combination of 3R with Design Thinking is a very effective approach to discuss the emotionally charged topic of animal experiments, to transfer the knowledge about the 3R principle, to work on innovative solutions for their implementation and train the competences required for a change of mindset within the scientific community.

Our Workshops

Description

Description

We provide the setting for an unbiased and playful approach to the 3Rs and to find creative space to exchange experiences and work on ways to further implement these principles in biomedical research. During the workshop various methods for team work and problem solving are presented and applied. These tools include creative working methods, analytical approaches, interviewing techniques and feedback tools. Read more…

Target Groups

Target Groups

Designed for interested scientists at universities, graduate schools or companies, with experiences in animal experimentation and/or an interest in the 3R. Group sizes of 10-20 people. We have experiences with and are open for other interested groups, too.

Formats

Formats

The schedule of a workshop can be from 3 hours to 2 full days (recommended, or 4 half days). Real life or remote workshops are possible. In any way, we are open for new formats and approaches. Read more…

Conditions

Optimal teamsizes are 5-6 people per team and 1 coach per team. A seminar room including beamer should be provided. We also offer virtual workshops with video conference and digital whiteboard tools.
